Well, that's a long list of improvements to an already fantastic nappy, so if you are not familiar with the bumGenius but feel that your baby deserves one then read on...

All you really need to know is that this nappy is a winner. It's a Birth-to-toddler pocket nappy and it really does fit babies from 8-35lbs. There are other birth to todder pocket nappies on the market already, but I've never felt them to be birth to toddler in the true sense of the word - they are often a bit short in the rise. The nappy consists of an outer made from a lovely, soft and breathable fabric. The inside is lined with suedecloth which wicks moisture to an absorbent insert and keeps your baby's bottom dry. Every Bumgenius comes with the highly acclaimed Cotton Babies microfibre insert included in the price, plus a newborn insert for those early days. This insert is very, very absorbent and is great if you are one of those people who hates having to purchase separate stuffings for pocket nappies.

It is possible to further increase the absorbency of the bumGenius by using both inserts supplied or doubling up the regular insert or by adding a microfibre cloth to the pocket in addition to the inserts supplied. Microfibre cloths can be found in the cleaning aisle of the supermarket and also in places like homebase. They are made of the same material as the bumGenius insert and may be washed with the nappies at 60 degrees. Being very thin they dry quickly but are superabsorbent so are a great way of adding extra absorbency to a nappy without too much bulk.

The nappy fastens with aplix and has stretchy cross-over tabs, so you get a really great fit. There are also rolled out leg casings which are soft and prevent red marks on legs and also further improve containment. If you have a newborn, you can fold down the front of the nappy to keep the umbilical area clean and dry. The nappy adjusts using snaps on the front so you can make the nappy longer as the baby grows.
